With over 20 years of experience providing geotechnical engineering services and materials testing and to construction in Fort St John, Metro Testing + Engineering is looking to include the Oil + Gas industry in our service portfolio. We are looking to grow our Geotechnical Team and hiring an experienced engineer to work as the Team Lead in Fort St. John.

In addition to providing technical leadership to the team, the Team Lead will also grow the team through business development. The person will also be travelling to out of town for conferences and business meetings.

 

Project types and Engineering challenges:

  • Primary soils in the region are Glacial in nature with glacial till and glacial lacustrine clays common in the area.
  • Projects currently range from construction, pipelines, oilfield laydown, municipal infrastructure, transportation, slope stability, and the door is open to diversifying our work.

What you will be doing:

  • Provide technical expertise and act as a technical advisor to Metro’s project teams as well as directly with clients.
  • Proactive business development in the Oil & Gas Industry. Must be able to grow the geotechnical department and bring in new clients.
  • Contribute to the development of proposals and participate in the process to acquire new businesses or to expand the scope of existing projects.
  • Coordinate and manage profitable projects with respect to time, budget and scope.
  • Conduct geotechnical field investigations and monitoring of construction activities.
  • Travelling to worksites and business development meetings across northern BC and Alberta.
  • Mentorship and development of team

Who we are looking for:

  • Experience with the Oil & Gas and Energy Industry
  • Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with EGBC.
  • 10 or more years of Geotechnical Engineer experience
  • 5 or more years of project management experience as a P.Eng.
  • Experience in business development
  • Experience with preparing and reviewing proposals.
  • Experience with civil and geotechnical design software such as gINT, AutoCAD, and Slide
