Environmental Services
Environmental challenges can slow progress and introduce significant risks if they’re not identified early and handled properly. Our Environmental Division brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to developing practical solutions that help protect people, property, and project timelines.
Experience Applied to Every Environment
Environmental work is a field that requires extensive experience and understanding to identify various issues and determine how to handle them effectively. We are proud of our vast experience history of serving our clients with integrity. Our mandate is to act as an advocate for our clients. We assist in designing environmentally responsible solutions for difficult environmental issues and provide innovation and cost effective solutions for clients in public, private, commercial, industrial, and First Nations sectors.
End-to-End Solutions
Our environmental services combine technical expertise with clear communication to identify risks and guide responsible development. Whether we’re working with a contaminated site, building a waste management strategy, or assessing liability, we help you and your team understand your site's actual condition and provide the data you need to take the best steps forward.
Site Assessments / Contaminated Site Investigation
Preliminary Site Investigation identify actual or potential environmental contamination risks at a property. While detailed site investigations identify the extent of contaminants in soil, groundwater, soil vapour or sediments. Through sampling, testing, and analysis, we help determine what’s there and what it means for your site. This gives you a clear understanding of risk and a solid foundation for the next steps.
Excess Soil Characterization
It is the process of sampling and testing soil that will be excavated and removed from a site to determine its environmental quality and identify appropriate reuse, treatment, or disposal options. It is commonly associated with excess soil management during construction, redevelopment, excavation, and site remediation.
Watercourse Assessment
A watercourse assessment is an environmental assessment conducted to determine the location, characteristics, condition, and potential environmental sensitivities of a stream, creek, ditch, wetland- connected channel, or other watercourse, particularly where a proposed development or construction activity may affect it.
Site Remediation
Site remediation focuses on safely managing or removing contamination so land can be used as specified. We develop and guide remediation strategies that align with regulatory requirements and project goals, providing you with a cleaner, compliant site and a clear path forward.
Underground Storage Tank Decommissioning / Management
Underground storage tanks can present significant environmental risks if not properly managed. To reduce liability and keep you compliant, we support tank location, assessment, removal, and monitoring to identify and mitigate potential contamination.
Risk Assessment
Human Health and Ecological Risk Assessment evaluates the potential impact of environmental conditions on people, property, and ecosystems. By analyzing site data and exposure pathways, we outline and quantify risk to determine if action is required. This supports informed decision-making and defensible outcomes.
Environmental Compliance
While some things never change, environmental standards consistently do. Meeting current environmental regulations is critical to keeping projects on track, so we help ensure your project aligns with applicable standards, permits, and guidelines at every stage. It’s our way of helping reduce the risk of delays, penalties, or unexpected complications on your site.
Construction Environmental Management Plan
A CEMP identifies potential environmental risks associated with construction activities and establishes measures to avoid, minimize, or mitigate adverse environmental effects. The CEMP also provides a framework for ensuring compliance with applicable environmental legislation, permit requirements, and industry best management practices.
Construction Environmental Monitoring
Construction projects often span long periods of time. And over this time, you need ongoing oversight to ensure your site conditions haven’t changed. We monitor site activities to ensure compliance with environmental requirements and mitigation measures, preventing issues before they escalate to keep your project moving responsibly.
Wildlife Surveys and Salvaging
Development can sometimes impact nearby wildlife and habitats. Both need to be protected while keeping your project moving, which is often a difficult task. Through in-depth surveys, we identify all affected species and help develop strategies for relocation and mitigation to minimize impacts.
Environmental Impact Assessment
Environmental impact assessments evaluate and outline how a project may affect surrounding land, water, and ecosystems. By identifying these potential impacts and recommending mitigation strategies to reduce them, we support smoother regulatory approvals and responsible project planning.
Environmental Sustainability
Everything we build today impacts the spaces we live in tomorrow. Sustainable practices help reduce environmental impact while supporting long-term project viability, so we provide guidance on minimizing waste and conserving resources. These strategies align your project with regulatory expectations and broader sustainability goals without compromising efficiency.
Waste Management
Waste is a reality for many projects across nearly every sector. No matter the type or quantity, it’s an element that needs to be proactively planned for and actively managed. To help you do both, we develop and implement plans that meet regulatory requirements and reduce environmental risk.
Hazardous Material Surveys / Management
When it comes to construction projects, hazardous materials are sometimes unexpected and always disruptive. To ensure they’re carefully identified, handled, and disposed of, we assess each material and provide detailed management strategies to support safe, responsible removal. It’s a vital step that helps keep workers, occupants, and the surrounding environment safe.
Hydrogeological Assessment
We offer a full range of hydrogeological consulting services to support projects of all scales in urban and rural settings. Our team develops practical strategies to address a variety of groundwater-related challenges for municipal, industrial, recreational, and agricultural clients.
Licensing and Permitting
Projects across sectors typically require various permits before work can begin. Depending on the permits required, it can be a complex process that causes unexpected delays. So we work alongside you to help navigate application processes, prepare documentation, and coordinate with relevant regulatory bodies.
Regulatory Approvals
Regulatory approval can be complex and time-sensitive. To help you secure all required approvals, we verify that all environmental requirements are met and properly documented. This foundational step helps move your project through approval stages efficiently and with significantly reduced risk.
