Are you a Civil Engineering student looking for a Co-Op Placement for 2024’s Summer and/or Fall Term? Metro Testing + Engineering provides opportunities for students who are looking to gain experience in their field of studies. You will gain valuable experience in construction materials engineering through working at our lab or on-site testing. We will help you to build a solid foundation in your future career.

Who we are
Metro Testing & Engineering Ltd has over 30 years of experience providing materials testing and engineering consultation to the construction industry in BC. We have grown to having over 240 employees and 10 offices in Western Canada.  As a CCIL Certified materials testing laboratory, we provide third party independent sampling and testing of construction materials for QC/QA purposes.  As a consulting firm, we provide consulting services in Materials, Environmental and Geotechnical Engineering. As an employer, we provide a safe, balanced work environment, and are committed to maintaining an open and inclusive workplace culture.

- Abbotsford
- Burnaby

What you will get
- You will be assigned a mentor who will have regular meetings with you throughout your Co-Op term
- Networking opportunities. Field work provides the opportunity to meet lots of new contacts in the industry
- Exposure to a variety of projects such as roadways and residential developments
- Full time opportunity. 40 hours a week with overtime
- Hourly wage of $21/hr
- 4-8 months term with possibility of extension
What you will be doing
- Materials Testing in the field and laboratory
- Working with Materials Engineers for special projects
- Supporting our Geotechnical and/or Environmental Engineering teams
- Troubleshooting real time compliance issues in the field and monitoring noncompliance protocols.
- Working side by side with construction crews and suppliers
What do we require from you
- Valid Driver’s license and access to personal vehicle (we will reimburse you for the use of your vehicle)
- CSA Approved Steel Toe Work Boots (We will supply other PPEs)
- Enthusiasm and passion for engineering
- Eagerness to learn
- Interpersonal and communication skills
