Resistograph Testing

Metro Testing + Engineering provides the specialized testing of wooden structures and timbers often found in heritage buildings to ensure the structure meets criteria for strength, durability, and safety. A resistograph is used in conjunction with 1/16” drill bit to penetrate a wooden structure while leaving virtually no damage. The resistance is plotted on a graph which provides a visual display of the wooden section. It is a fast, accurate, and reliable way to identify and assess material properties, areas of structural decay or rot, hollow cavities, cracks, possible damage, and other conditions where structural integrity may be compromised.

  • Resistograph used to measure wooden structures up to 16” in thickness
  • Ideally suited for use in timber framing and post-and-beam structures
  • Well suited for heritage buildings
